Midwest Training Centre has earned a reputation for having great parties and David Boggs is unquestionably the host with the most! However, Midwest Training Centre is never content to have just the most - they want to have the best - the best Arabian horses in the world, the best services, the best staff, the best facilities and of course the best parties where all of these things can be shared with family, friends and clients - as well as people new to the Arabian horse. It has always been a goal at Midwest Training Centre to expand that group and introduce as many people as possible to the Arabian horse.
On Sunday, January 3rd, Midwest Training Centre hosted the grand finale for the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Farm Tours organized by the Arab Horse Network. For five days Arabian horse farms from all across Scottsdale opened their doors and welcomed the public to presentations of their show, breeding and sale horses. The goal was to welcome everyone who is interested in learning more about Arabian horses and hopefully to introduce many new people who are not familiar with all of the amazing and endearing qualities of our breed. The events were publicized internationally through the power of the Internet and locally through magazine and newspaper stories.
David Boggs had attended and supported many of the other open houses and had expected a similar turnout of around 100 to 200 visitors. For Boggs and the staff of Midwest, when it comes to parties, they believe in the idea of “the more - the merrier!” However, even he was surprised when over 600 people passed through the gates of Midwest Training Centre! Those people who could not attend the presentation in person were not to be denied the thrill of seeing the exquisite Arabian horses presented that evening. The entire event was broadcast via live feed on the Internet and over 2600 breeders and Arabian horse enthusiasts enjoyed the show in the comfort of their own home!
David Boggs was excited to share his thoughts about the farm tours, “We assumed that because our event was the last of more than 10 open houses and it was scheduled for Sunday night that many people would not be able to attend. We estimated that perhaps 100 - 200 people might arrive. We were very pleasantly surprised with the response - the caterers said they served well over 550 people and there were lots more who did not take refreshments.
We agreed to participate because we are always looking for opportunities to promote the Arabian horse - and it sounded like fun. It turned out to be a huge public relations and marketing success. There were so many new people. I could tell from the questions they asked about the horses, “How do you start if you want to buy a horse, is it best to start with a baby or grown horse, can anyone show a horse - kids or adults?” - it was fabulous!
We sold at least seven horses and numerous breedings to our stallions as a result of the showing that night. This will definitely be an annual event at Midwest. We would like to thank Scott Bailey and David Cains for organizing the farm tours and we appreciate all of the Arab Horse Network staff who made this event possible.”
The people who came out to the farm were expecting to see some Arabian horses. But they were shocked and truly blown away by the presentation of some of the most beautiful, success and famous horses in the breed. The presentation was created and designed as a family event. There were people of all ages in attendance and many families with children who were front and center for the show. You could see the look of wonder and delight in their eyes when David and Terry Ann Boggs’ youngest child, Jake opened the presentation leading his miniature horse, Trigger, on stage accompanied by his friend, Carlos Miraz, leading one of the farm’s miniature Sicilian burros.
No one needs to explain the magic of the Arabian horse to children - they automatically understand and embrace the ethereal beauty, and gentle nature of these horses. They have no fear - only adoration - and an insatiable desire to reach out and touch these awesome creatures. One little girl, about six years old, turned to her parents each time a horse was brought out and exclaimed, “I want that one!” She wanted them all! She had impeccable taste for a child so young. It would have been impossible to expect a person who had never seen Arabian horses to comprehend and appreciate the quality of the individuals that were presented - it even surprised many people who have been associated with the breed for many years.
Among the horses presented were legendary stallions: six times National Champion DA Valentino, sire of multiple international champions HCF Cajun Prince and National and International Champion Laman, and National Champion RHR Marcedes. Also presented were multiple National Champion Mare Dulcinea BHF, National Champion Yearling Colt Vitorio TO, multi National Champion Half-Arabian Gelding Shut Up and Dance and host of other champions, champion producers and up and coming superstars.
David Boggs concluded with these thoughts, “The New Years Open House was a sneak peak of some of the “White Diamonds” from our upcoming Midwest Training Centre Invitational Sale. The open house was the official start of the Invitational Sale that runs now through the entire Scottsdale season. During this time, Midwest will offer the crème de la crème of the Arabian horse breed for the consideration of Arabian enthusiasts around the world. We will also host additional open houses as well as private viewings of these world-class private treaty sale horses. We look forward to welcoming old friends and new to our Scottsdale facility.”
